Stan is the man! Actioning and Improvising
Presented by Jhi Rayner of Freeroam Theatre (Wagga Wagga) as part of the Big Fork Comedy Festival 2025.
Take to the stage as you navigate the actioning, objective, and super objective techniques of one of the fathers of Modern Acting, Konstantin Stanislavski. In this workshop, you will:
Create compelling characters using Stanislavsky’s actioning techniques.
Find and create clear, specific objectives to drive your improvised scenes.
Stay grounded in your choices, balancing authenticity and humour.
Build confidence in making strong, dynamic choices on stage.
Learn how to bring depth and clarity to your characters while keeping things fun.
Workshop Length: 3 hours
Recommended experience level: No previous experience
Participants need to know: There will be feedback and some physical work in this workshop.
Meet Jhi Rayner (he/him)
Jhi is an Actor, Director, Improvisor, Theatre Maker, Techie, Self-proclaimed all-round good bloke, and the Artistic Director of Freeroam Theatre Incorporated in Wagga Wagga. Jhi fell in love with improvisation at a young age and has been teaching impro and acting for 15 years.
